I had the pleasure of running our agencies largest account with David for 2+ years. He was my go-to partner for project management, budget management, and team camaraderie. During his tenure we were able to grow our cross-functional office located in Southern California by six employees, while driving our day-to-day business forward with 12 team members and multiple vendors in San Francisco. We were able to maintain an impressive profitability margin through his diligence in resource and time management. And we were fully integrated; tackling assignments across digital display, video, social media, print, OOH, and web dev.

David is widely versed in multi-channel marketing, but I strongly believe his future is in technology adoption and knowing how to apply new media to today’s consumer. David Ou is the man. This guy is cool, calm, and collected at all times. David is a killer Project Manager who can plan, execute, manage, and oversee every phase of a project. He is always abreast of where things are, next steps, and how to communicate between teams. He’s agile and can pivot whenever there are changes from the client, on a timeline, with a deliverable, etc.

A couple of things I find crucial about David are:
– Attitude: He’s never flipping out. You don’t see this guy worried about things, he keeps his cool, and as a product of that, when there are last minute revisions or needs, he influences all parties of his team to not enter freak out mode.

– Business: David always knows the status of every component of a project. No one is unclear about what their next step is, nor is anyone ever waiting around. David keeps things running smoothly, anticipating what’s coming next.

– Accountable: Anytime you need this guy, he’s already there. He’s the kind of person you assign to flip the switch on a midnight New Years promo, and don’t have any second thoughts about it getting done. He’s 5 steps ahead, always ready go to, exceedingly responsible, and is a strong communicator.

– Overall nice guy: Not only does he have the project HANDLED, he’s just great to be around. One of my favorite things about David is that he has no ego. He’s nice, welcoming, and looks for the best in everybody. He likes to collaborate and provide ideas when invited. He’s the kind of person you want to hang out with after work.

Any opportunity I have to work with David is warmly welcomed.

It doesn’t even feel right writing a recommendation for David as a Project Manager–he was way more than that to us at Giant. The title does him zero justice. Though the length of his experience doesn’t make him a Sr. Project Manager, he operated at that level in all facets. His ability to keep projects moving without being pushy is unique; his scoping and project plans are always spot on; his attitude, energy and aura are infectious. When he left Giant, things just were not the same. It can’t be after losing such a crucial piece. Never met a project manager with such crazy work ethic, and his digital knowledge has increased so much since I first met him–possesses a lot of skills that Producers do as well. A wonderful mix. I will somehow find a way to work with David again, and until then, I will be jealous of those who get to. I am sure he will blow the socks off of his new company the same way he did Giant. He thinks about how a physical arrangement of space will affect and influences people. His knowledge of social media and how it is used will be very important to any employers.
